The Fit-Out of NB Steben

Mike Nolan purchased a Piper Boats built, 46 feet long trad, with a Beta 28hp engine. Purchased as a  sailaway, he had never taken on a task like this before. Fitting out the inside from scratch it was his first narrowboat and he loves it. He had no real experience of building as is  a a baker by trade. He worked  evenings and weekends by himself assisted by his good friend Andy.

A wet December day in 2003 our first viewing of narrowboat STEBEN . Oh well just the spray foam and the wiring and a few bits of wood and a bit of paint and that's it ......finished !!! if only

........Well nb steben has arrived 400 miles on a lorry and craned in at Devizes on the Kennet and Avon canal . It has been spray foamed and I have used 600 feet of cable so far.  The roof is now taking shape with the help of my friend Andy.

The roof and sides are now in,  the bathroom is getting there the kitchen is on its way, the Alde heating is in.

Well here we are 8 months later still not finished but its useable we have had 2 weeks on the River Thames and many weekends away.

Here we are on the Thames at Sandford August 2004 . The out side is now gleaming but i must admit I didn't paint it it was done in a boat marina, 5 weeks of waiting but worth it . Since this picture was taken the side and back doors have been lined with oak panels and the inside is 90% finished. We have had many comments on the hull specially the "piper" cut out for the engine air breather on the stern.
